Chocolate, Banana, and Coconut Won Tons with Blackberry Sauce
I had leftover won ton wrappers from the Ahi Tuna Salad that I made and saw the bananas and chocolate and thought what a great dessert! Granted these little babies are fried, but they are a nice easy treat every now and again (moderation, people). You could make a raspberry sauce instead if you prefer or even pineapple to compliment the coconut. I may try these lil puppies with white chocolate and strawberries next time around.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- 8 won ton wrappers
- 1 ripe banana, diced
- 1/2 cup chopped chocolate or small chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- vegetable oil for frying
- powdered sugar for dusting
- 1 small container blackberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 orange zested
- whipped cream
Directions:
1.) In a medium bowl, combine banana, chocolate, and coconut. Lay won ton wrappers on a flat surface and fill each one with about a tablespoon of the banana mixture. Roll into a small burrito shape and press down on all the edges with your fingers or a fork.
2.) In a medium saucepan, heat water, sugar, blackberries, and orange zest over medium heat until boiling. Let boil for about 4 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove pan from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Pour blackberry mixture into food processor or blender and pulse until well combined.
3.) Heat a medium saute pan over medium heat and add a thin layer of vegetable oil to the bottom. When the oil is hot, add all of the won ton packages. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
4.) Place two won ton packages on a plate, dust with powdered sugar, and spoon blackberry sauce around. Top with a bit of whipped cream.
